Day 206

Listening to the traffic as it swishes in the snow and slush.
The movie de jour is up day 60.

Ever listen to a glass of pop?   Pour yourself a fresh glass of pop and take a listen.   Weird right?  And ever notice how it sounds different in a glass- glass vs a plastic cup?

Day 205

So I just got back in from yet another round of craziness that is being at mother's.
I did get to post the movie de jour this morning had less then 5 minutes on the computer to do that. Day 59 on there.

Its snowing here and I'm dealing with a major sinus headache.   Not much to talk about right now, maybe later.

Just wanted to let the few who wait for the movie update to know I posted.

Day 204

Day 58 on the movie de jour.

And this is the frustration that is my inability to knit.
Look at this... I can cast on but that's as far as I can get. The second I try to actually knit with the second needle it all falls off. The one time it seemed like it was going to work, it ended up being one tangled knot.
And I've been at this now for what three weeks.   I see other people knit with lightening speed able to pay attention to other things completely multitasking but yet I can't get one single row done.
And I've tried using different sized needles, different thickness of yarn, but no matter what, it unravels and the yarn splits into just threads. I've had to throw away more of that yarn because of splitting.

I guess it's time to break down and order myself the Knitting for Dummies book.

DAy 203

You know the drill by now... the movie de jour is up.  Day 57
I actually posted it this morning early.

Been out gallivanting around town.   Where does that word come from anyway... gallivanting...  got myself to the craft store, and to the cinema.   Which will be tomorrow's post.

Want to keep this short and light, as I need to post on my main blog.  Actually, I suppose the main blog this year is really the movie challenge blog.

Leftovers for supper tonight.  And i really do not want to see broccoli again for a very long time.

202 B

Recipes and photos are up over on the movie challenge blog, tying  in with the movie I've been talking about... well hinting at.
I did make a short mention with link over on my cooking blog.  But I'm feeling the weight of the day on me now, and feel that I am just going to post the link here too...

Day 202

Yes, I posted the movie de jour this morning.   Day 56

As I mentioned yesterday, I have been at mother's.  Just got back and all I have to say for myself is that I really have to break my cheesecake habit.
Speaking of food,  I did make the recipes I was hinting at in yesterday's post.  I just haven't gotten around to uploading the photos yet or anything.  I plan on spending some time later tonight posting the recipes  pretty much everywhere.

And I hope that I do not have to cook a piece of broccoli again for a very very very long time.  Be back in a few hours...

Daylight

Coffee, and the 69 Eyes on the cd player.   I have only been able to get one of theirs here in Canada and I had to get it imported.  The Angels cd.
Anyways, fabulous throw back metal bands are not the reason I'm blogging right now. Normally, topics like that are better suited for my main blog, but I felt this blog needed a shift in energy.
I have blogged myself into a bit of a pickle.  My poor cooking blog hasn't been given any attention in months.  Which, if the experiment I have planned for this weekend works, it will get a few short posts.
And they will of course, tie to the movie I've been blabbling about for the last few weeks.
Which, as I read what I am typing, realize that all this only makes sense to me at the moment because I haven't said what movie has inspired this kitchen planning.  But, I'm hoping it does not fail.
Succeed or fail, I always post my recipes.
Other short topics, my knitting.  Terrible really. I was hoping for a knitting class, but seems I'm out of luck right now.  And the For Dummies books only take you so far.  Though, I've yet to break down and buy the knitting for dummies,  I have the Quilting for dummies. And we already know how many problems that craft is causing in me.
With the movie challenge I'm feeling good.  Really good.  I know for some of you reading this blog it feels like I've been at it forever, but I've only been at the movie challenge for a mire 7 weeks.  Saturday will make the 8 week mark.
Still wishing now  that I had been smart enough to have posted it all on here and not having created a separate blog for it.  I suppose why I am feeling the need to create this nice long blog post, because I feel I have been not using this blog as well as I could... Blogger's Guilt???
Okay, half the cd has played since I started typing this post.    I am off to my mother's again this afternoon to mess up her kitchen with the first round of recipes.  ...Wish me luck.

Day 201

And it's just after midnight, but still it's a new day.   Yes, I just did the movie de jour  Day 55

I'm awake, which for me at this average time frame is odd.  Normally, this is around the time I manage to get a bit of sleep, but not seeming to be able to.   And the writing has hit another wall.

We're actually at +2c right now here which is amazing to say the lest for this time of year.

I'm babbling in circles right now, so much love and see you in the daylight.

Day 200

Morning now, and the movie de jour is up.   Day 54

I'm up at a time that I would once again say is way too early but oh well.
Think that I might have found the recipe for the side project that will tie in to the movie I've been talking about.   Just have to get the ingredients later and see if it works.

Managed to get a bit of writing done too, and something in my latest story made me think I need to do some best of lists for the movie challenge.  Could be good, could be the same old same old too.  We'll see.

Day 199

Over on the movie de jour, we have Day 53
Yeah, really wishing now that I had had the foresight to have used this blog for the movie challenge, but woo is me; I was in too much of a rush to start the challenge 7 weeks ago and have made extra work for myself.
One thing of which is two recipes that will tie in with a movie.  Only, I've yet to figure out the recipes. Long story which will make sense at some point.

Expect the 6 of Cups to be popping up in your tarot reading for the next week or so, as we are in a Mars retrograde. Mars in retro means going over the past few months and double checking stuff, the 6 of Cups means thinking fondly about the past.

198 B

The missing poster for the movie de jour (Day 52) is now up.  Which means one thing, I'm sitting peacefully in my own apartment again.

Been an overcast grey sky day here today.   Just the way I like it.  Snowing too.  But fairly warm for here, which is -7c with a -12c windchill.  So not the kind of weather we're used to this time of year for my city.  Normally, it's down in the -30c with windchills reaching -40c

Day 198

Movie de jour is up.  Day 52
Fighting with mother's computer again, so I will have to go in later and fix the post on the movie blog.  And you might be thinking why didn't I just wait in general till I got home?  Cause, I am stubborn and I like to have the posts done as early in the day as possible.
Besides, I watched it last night and in my brilliance, did not take notes.

That's the thing about watching a movie at mother's,  I have no control over what movie I see.  Which, in a way is a good thing for the project.   And when I say I have no control over the choice, it's because I either have to watch whats on tv or pick something that is G to PG because my mother hates everything.  So even with the whole Shaw Video On Demand,  I am limited to what mother will approve.

Day 197

Day 51 on the movie de jour is up.

Another one of my uber early mornings.  Not insomnia just way early because of the the neighbours.  But why waste the time right?  Right.

Okay, book wise, my Debbie Macomber addiction has to stop!  Seriously, I picked up two more of her's when I was out yesterday.
Not going to lie, her books are part of what has me trying to learn to knit. It's the big theme in all her novels.

And it would seem, I have bought all the wrong fabric for my quilt.  All but what I have planned to use for the backing of the quilt is a polyester. I picked up a flannel for the backing.  But it would seem, that for quilting, I'm being told to stay away from polyester.   Lovely, screwed up right out of the gate. See, I knew the quilting project would take me a few years.

Day 196

Movie de jour is now posted. Day 50!

I went to the cinema today to see me some vamps and werewolves.   I'm very happy now yes.

Don't you hate how popcorn gets stuck in your teeth... I hate that. Totally.

That's really all I have to say for now.  It's gotten very very cold here again,  -15c with I have no idea what the windchill is, but I really wished I had more then one thin pair of gloves.

Day 195

The movie de jour is posted Day 49

Today's movie is a bit of heroine worship.

You know what I keep forgetting last few days on there and on here too,   changing the update countdown.  I am getting that total brain freeze happening again.  One of the side effects of the early menopause.  That and I'm just trying to get too many blog posts done within a twenty minute time frame.

And the 4th Underworld movie opens up this weekend.  This is starting to look like it's going to be a great year for vampire fans.  Not only do we get Underworld 4 Awakenings,   but later in the spring we are getting the latest Batman {don't argue it's a vampire movie} we're getting the Dark Shadows movie, plus this new book to film of Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, and of course the end of the Twilight Saga... and that's just the one's I'm aware of.

Yes, vampires make me happy.

Day 194

The sun is starting to rise here.  and yes I posted the movie de jour this morning day 48

The movie project has splintered off into little side projects, which are keeping me out of too much trouble.
Looking forward to what it will all end up as at the end of the year.

I am waiting to get into the Jane Austen stuff till after another month or so, as there are a bunch of vampire movies coming out over the next few months.

But I am getting ahead of myself greatly.

Day 193

Day 47 on the movie blog is now up.

Back home once again from mother's.   Apartment building is like ice.

Have I mentioned that I seem to have formed an addiction to Debbie Macomber novels?  Yeah, I finished reading the one book yesterday morning at mother's, and when it was obvious I was sort of stuck there an extra day,  I went digging through her collection of books for something else to read.  So I snagged 2 more of her Debbie Macomber  Blossom Street series.
Currently reading "Twenty Wishes"

Day 192

Morning.   The movie de jour is up day 46 on there.
I am using my mom's computer and having a hell of a time getting the photos to work but I think I managed it.  But for those reading the movie blog that is why the poster for the movie today might be not right.

Trying to learn how to knit.  For some reason my hands just do not want to what my brain tells it with the yarn.  could be why I am no good with video games...
I am now insearch of coffee...

Day 191

Just posted Day 45 on the movie de jour

The movie unnerved me.  I found it disturbing.  Which is how I like my horror films.  Yes, I did a horror film for today's entry.

I'm off to mother's later today.  Which means, tomorrow's movie de jour will either have to wait till I get back later tomorrow night or I will have to post without a poster.   I found last week when I posted the to the movie blog from mom's computer that it was such a hassle getting the movie poster to work. It just didn't want to work proper for me.  So, if in the case that I watch a movie at her place and write it up, there will be no poster for it until I'm able to get home.
I'm sure this is keeping you all my dears on the edge of your seats.  But then again this is a drama free zone so this is as intense as I'm allowing on here.

Speaking of photos, I realize I nearly never put any on here.

Day 190

Movie de jour is up. Day 44 on there

You know those days when you are having a conversation with someone and the hours fly by?
Was one of those nights for me.  I had chatted with a friend last night who lives out of town, and we started talking at 9pm; next thing I knew it was almost 2:30am.   One of those rare nights when the insomnia did not get a chance to dig in.
I think this afternoon will include a short nap.

Day 189

Movie de jour is posted Day 43

As I watch the flashing cursor on this post trying to think what to say I once again think that it would have been smarter and easier to have used this blog for the movie challenge but of course at the time I was not thinking about convenience I was only thinking about the idea of the challenge.

Yes that was one giant run on sentence without any punctuation.   I haven't had a coffee yet.

Day 188

The movie de jour is up.  Day 42 on there

Being that it is Friday the 13th, and the first of the 2012 year; I was thinking of which horror film to go with.  Being I am not a fan of the the movie franchise with the name of the day {Friday the 13th if I've confused you}  I was thinking Amityville or Omen or Hellraiser or something to turn your hair white.  Then I thought, maybe I'll do the opposite and go with a Jane Austen movie.

But I ended up going with something so horrifingly scream worthy... Which I'm not going to tell you. You must check the movie blog to find out.

Day 187

Just posted the movie de jour.  Day 41 on there.

This movie a day challenge is both good and bad.  Certain movies are inspiring other projects. And they are ranging from some sort of arts and crafts to other challenges to just locating the original book. In other words, some days are easier then others.  Like life in general.   I like the idea of having a schedule.  Having to do my "homework" before a certain point in the day.   That is one of the main things I miss about the wrestling reviews/commentary I was doing.  It's also what stressed me out the most.
It anchored me.  There were certain days a week were I knew that people would start looking for the reviews.  I knew how many hours a week and per day that I needed to devote to the write ups.  I do miss the structure of it.
But the movie challenge gives me a bit of that structure back.   Having a disability that keeps you home sucks.  Your days sometimes blend together so much... If someone had told me back in 1995 that I would not be running around trying to cram 72 hours of work into a 16 hour shift anymore, or that I'd be basically housebound; I'd have laughed in their face.
Okay, going to make coffee and work on one of the side projects...

Day 186

The movie de jour is up.   Day 40

It's snowing here today.
Back in my own apartment.

Okay seriously, sitting here thinking I have a million things I should be doing, working on, wanted to talk about and the end result is ... staring at the keyboard not knowing what to type.
The weather on Monday had been just lovely so I took the risk of getting over to mother's with the plan of only staying till supper.  Ended up staying the night and just not being able to get my boot on yesterday.  Life likes to throw stuff doesn't it?

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Day 185

The movie de jour is up  Day 39

So yeah sort of a late day for me today.   Decided yesterday to make my way to mothers and ended up staying the night,  still here actually.  And had to wait for a chance to get to the computer.
But it gave me a chance to see a movie on tv, something I wouldn't have normally thought to watch. Which is the movie de jour.

should be back home by tomorrow afternoon with everything getting back on schedule by then.

Day 184

The movie de jour is up.  Day 38

Not much yet here this morning, still dark outside.  Just a small post to say the movie de jour is up.
Working on a future project to connect to a movie for that blog, which is sort of driving me mad.  More complicated a project then I originally thought... the single one for the single movie...

183 B

I'm bit loopy this morning.

Best sellers are always an interesting bet for book clubs.  More so when they are being turned into a movie.  So, I decided to pick next month's book club selection because of those two reasons.

Book club linkage

The whole subgenre of the MonsterLit has become a phenomenon even I didn't see coming.  I thought that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies  which is what sort of really caught the genre going, would cater to a small amount of people and then that would be about it.
I had no idea this would become the massive stroke of genius it has in the last two years.  Oh my god man!
And to be honest,  up to this point the books I've read in the genre - Emma and the Vampires, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Jane Slayre, Mr. Darcy Vampyre ,  I haven't much cared for.   But I'm staying optimistic with the latest couple I just ordered - Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter  and Queen Victoria Demon Hunter -
I've actually now got my eye on Little Vampire Women. I might order that if these are any good.

But in all fairness, it's the fact ALVH is being released this summer in movie form that really got me going today.

Day 183

Movie de jour is up.  Day 37

And I am just digging around in the closet where I keep my junk, looking the box of Hallowe'en stuff to add a photo of something to the movie blog.   It will tie in with today's movie.

Saturday, January 7, 2012

Day 182

The movie de jour is up.  Day 36

Insomnia turned into anger.    Do not worry, won't get into it. But it fueled me to get the movie de jour written up.  Why waste the time right?

Time management.  Something I used to be so good at back before my car accident.  Now, time just zips past and I have less then half the stuff done in the course of a day then what I planned.

Friday, January 6, 2012

Day 181

The movie de jour is up.  Day 35

I've been talking on my main blog and I think on this one, for awhile now about doing sewing projects.  I was originally going to try a dress but that didn't pan out.   My other project is a quilt.
My mistake on that was trying to get my mother's help on it.  Which ended in nothing but her hissing at me about not cutting the material.

How can you make a quilt if you do not cut the squares??????

So, being the book person I am,  I decided to get myself a book on quilting.   Quilting for Dummies.   Yes, a "for dummies" book.

It arrived yesterday and all I can say is this could take me all year.  I had no idea there were so many tools involved with it.   Shaped rulers, cutting wheels, steam machines, wooden frames, stencils, with a totally different approach if you're doing it by hand then if you are with a sewing machine {I'm doing it by hand as no one I know has a machine}

Scratch that, this could take me well into 2014.

Thursday, January 5, 2012

Day 180

The movie de jour is up.  Day 34
I had the chance to get to the cinema yesterday.

And, I've been ranting on my main blog about the photo issue Blogger is having.

I'm seeing a bit of a trend in books right now, fiction and semi-fiction based on knitting groups.  I'm wondering how big of a trend knitting has become in general?   I've tried knitting in the past, and there seems to be a disconnect between my hands and my brain for learning knitting.  I couldn't even get one row to work proper.  Maybe in the future I'll give it another try...

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

Day 179

The movie de jour is up.  Day 33

Was at mother's yesterday, and caught up with Bold and the Beautiful
Reading another Debbie Macomber book... Out of the Rain...  it's one I borrowed from mom.  I never in a million years would have thought that my mother and I would have the same taste in books.

Not too much going on today, just glad I was able to get out of the apartment after having been stuck in here for the last 2 and a half weeks.

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Day 178

The movie de jour is up.  Day 32

Sun is just rising, not much going on this morning.   I am however, going to my mother's today and staying there tonight.  So, for those reading the movie blog - I have no idea what time tomorrow I'll be able to post-  might be late when I get home tomorrow night.

Last night, for supper made a casserole style dish - a pasta with mushroom cream sauce- baked.  I'm looking for casserole recipes now if anyone reading this has a favourite please post or link it .

Till Tomorrow hope everyone has a lovely day

Day 177

The movie de jour is up. Day 31

For those who have seen the movie Julie/Julia,  remember the scene when she's on the telephone to her mother and tells her it's not important that she could stop blogging,  it's in the near beginning of the film.
I had one of those conversations with my mother the other night that upset me.  She said the movie project wasn't important and I that I should just quit.   Well, to her it's not important because I'm the one doing it.  I told her it was important to me and that I just started and there was no way I was going to stop.
That phone call though it made me feel like shit, which is my mother's specialty.  I've never understood what it is about my mother or her sister or my sister that causes them to  be like that.

And the lesson here is... I really have to stop talking to my mother.
And to believe more in my own instincts.

Day 176 - Jan 2012

It's almost 4am where I am.  New Year's day.  Wide awake and thinking I would put my insomnia to use.  Honestly, I'm not even sure why I bother trying to sleep at night anymore.

So this is a year of challenges for me.  I'll be posting the movie de jour shortly.  I just finished writing it up.  When I do, it will be Day 30.

Last year I took part in the 2011 Goodreads reading challenge.  I managed to read 45 books.  The first half was easy as I was still doing book reviews and was able to knock off the first twenty five with ease. The rest took some work to get through.
This year, I've just signed up for it with a lower goal of only twenty five books.  I've added a challenge widget to the sidebar if anyone is interested.  {Last years is on the very bottom of blog}

And of course the main challenge this year is the 1 movie a day.
